What You’ll Do
As the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the technical operations, maintenance, and performance optimization of solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities. You will ensure the highest levels of system reliability, safety, and efficiency, while leading multi-disciplinary site teams and coordinating closely with engineering, HSE, and asset management departments. This role requires a technically strong, hands-on professional capable of balancing analytical rigor with practical problem-solving, ensuring assets perform at or above expected levels throughout their operational lifespan.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations and maintenance of assets to meet contractual performance, reliability, and availability targets.
- Oversee all site-based engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with central control centres, OEMs, and third-party service providers to maintain uninterrupted plant operations.
- Perform on-site and remote fault diagnostics, root cause analyses, and implement timely recovery actions to restore optimal system performance.
- Review and approve technical procedures, risk assessments, and method statements for maintenance and repair activities.
- Support commissioning, integration, and start-up of new or upgraded PV and BESS systems, ensuring compliance with design and operational standards.
- Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans in accordance with OEM recommendations and internal quality systems.
- Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance tools, and consumables to ensure readiness for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending upgrades, technology enhancements, or process refinements.
- Monitor plant operations through SCADA, EMS, and data analytics platforms to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analyze performance data, identify anomalies, and implement corrective measures to sustain or improve system efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and performance summaries for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, local regulations, and international standards.
- Conduct and participate in regular safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and enforce adherence to safe work procedures.
- Supervise, coach, and develop site engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and teamwork.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, utilities, and contractors, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Support project handovers, warranty claims, and technical due diligence processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years in solar PV and/or BESS operations and maintenance, with at least 3 years in a site management or supervisory capacity.
- Proven experience with grid-tied and hybrid systems, SCADA/EMS platforms, and inverter-based technologies.
- Solid understanding of power systems, electrical protection, and energy storage integration.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency with maintenance management systems (CMMS), data analytics tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Knowledge of IEC, NFPA, and local electrical standards and codes.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong decision-making ability under pressure and in remote site environments
