Job Description
CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time Senior Associate or Associate Principal to be based in Morocco. The candidate will be part of the North Africa Advisory team, focused on unlocking private capital and build our presence in the country. We are seeking candidates with experience working in Morocco, contacts across the country's business environment and financial services sector, and an understanding of the investment landscape in the country.
Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high-impact sectors as well as experience dealing with Francophone Africa will be regarded favorably.
Associate Principal candidates should have 7+ years of experience working in high-caliber finance or consulting organizations and experience working in developing countries. Senior Associate candidates should have 5+ years. Both should demonstrate strong project management experience.
Initially, the candidate will primarily be working on the implementation of a development program covering Francophone Africa to foster U.S. private investments in the region. The candidate is expected to support other advisory engagements and business development efforts.
The successful candidate will be the day-to-day point of contact for clients in Morocco, evaluate investment opportunities, conduct macroeconomic markets assessments, provide transaction support to both investors and capital seekers, and will also work closely with North Africa and West Africa teams.

- Market assessment and ongoing market analysis:
- Conduct macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments
- Provide sector and regulatory analysis of priority areas for investment
- Company identification and evaluation:
- Identify and rigorously assess investment opportunities
- Transaction support:
- Assist U.S. companies in developing and responding to opportunities in Francophone African markets, through a range of services, such as: undertaking market analysis, defining go-to-market strategies, assisting in response to business opportunities, identifying partnership opportunities, structuring transactions, supporting the capital raise process, etc.
- Assist local companies in their fundraising efforts to have them investment-ready for potential U.S. investors
- Develop financial models and valuation activities, including sensitivity analysis and stress testing
- Prepare investor materials, such as: teaser, pitch deck, information memorandum, explanation of management structure, competitive landscape, and financial projection to recommend strategies, etc.
- Investor qualification and relations:
- Assist in identifying qualified investors
- Manage numerous investor relationships
- Business development:
- Assist on business development efforts for Morocco and North Africa, including proposal writing and budgeting
- Develop CrossBoundary’s network in Morocco
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Senior Associate candidates should have 5+ years of experience working in top tier banking, consulting, private equity and experience working in developing countries.
- Associate Principal candidates should have 7+ years of similar experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or another advanced degree strongly desired
- Experience working in developing countries, with an emphasis on Francophone Africa
- Demonstrated leadership skills; preferably in fast-moving and complex environments
- Excellent time and project management skills, with capacity to advance multiple work-streams at once
- Excellent analytical ability and discipline; ability to think clearly, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focus on the core issue
- Excellent quantitative skills; ability to apply analytical rigor to complex and uncertain tasks
- Excellent presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences
- Knowledge of corporate finance and familiarity with financial modeling, company evaluation and valuation techniques
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues in stressful environments
- Comfort with ambiguity; ability to operate effectively in a changing context
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high-impact sectors
- Business fluency in French and English
The Senior Associate / Associate Principal will be based in Morocco. Frequent travel can also be expected.
