We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to join our Finance Team based in South Africa. The Financial Controller will be a key player in maintaining and reporting accurate financial records in accordance with company policies. This includes overseeing financial transactions, ensuring ledger reconciliations, managing the purchase-to-pay process, and guaranteeing compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities

  • You will ensure precise recording and maintenance of all financial records, adhering to company standards.
  • You will book bank payments in accordance with the approved chart of accounts within two days of transaction execution.
  • You will conduct monthly general ledger reconciliations, inclusive of prepayments, accruals, bank statements, and inventory.
  • You will prepare and post end-of-month journal entries, covering areas such as revenue, product costs, and payment fees.
  • You will oversee Accounts Payable reconciliation and maintain the creditor's ledger.
  • You will record and reconcile monthly revenue figures and accounts receivable balances.
  • You will supervise the purchase-to-pay process, ensuring the timely issuance of Purchase Orders with accurate information and proper vendor documentation.
  • You will regularly manage travel advances and submit a monthly report to HR via the Team Leader.
  • You will liaise with the company’s auditors, bankers, and tax advisors when necessary.
  • You will guarantee compliance with all tax regulations, including the timely submission of returns and tax payments.

Experience and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in a similar role or reputable organization/agency.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office functions, especially Word and Excel.
