We are looking for an Investigations Officer to join our Mobility team as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.

Are you ready to play a critical role in safeguarding M-KOPA's mobility business integrity? As our Investigations Officer, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving incident and accident cases related to our mobility products. This role requires on-the-ground field presence and liaison with police and legal authorities while ensuring diligent management of post-incident processes. You will also handle cases involving unreachable and suspected fraud customers for asset recovery purposes.

About Us

In this essential field-based role, you will facilitate first response and follow-up investigations for battery thermal incidents by working closely with police and law enforcement authorities. You will manage asset release processes following thermal incidents, traffic accidents, and other asset impound cases, developing best practices and maintaining consistent case follow-ups with police and relevant agencies.

Your expertise will be crucial in supporting the Customer Performance team to locate and engage poor-paying, unreachable, and suspected fraud customers for loan collections and asset recovery. You will maintain detailed records of all incidents, accidents, investigations, and communications with external authorities while continuously developing and recommending improvements to investigative procedures and post-incident protocols.

This is an on-site role, you would be working from our offices in Kenya, partnering with a diverse group of employees from our different markets and locations. You will be reporting to the Customer Performance Manager.

Expertise

We are seeking a professional with experience in fire incident response and investigations and proven experience working with law enforcement agencies. You should have a solid understanding of traffic laws, regulations, and relevant processes with law enforcement agencies, plus understanding of criminal justice systems and processes.

Essential interpersonal skills include being comfortable interacting with various stakeholders including customers, law enforcement, and staff. You must be professional, acting proactively and independently in the field with strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders and manage business expectations. We're looking for someone with a positive, learning-oriented attitude and capacity for self-empowerment.

Technical requirements include proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and effective written and verbal communications. Proficiency in Swahili and English is required. Certification in a fraud-related discipline, such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), is a plus.
