The Opportunity
The Vice President of Commercial Risk plays a crucial role in protecting the company's bottom line by identifying, assessing, and managing credit risk from funding solar and home improvement installers. This position will report to Mosaic’s Chief Customer Operations Officer.
Location: We are remote-first. This role can be based in most states in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Assessment: Assessing the creditworthiness, financial stability and reputational health of solar installers and contractors
- Risk Mitigation Strategies: Developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to minimize exposure to credit risk, including collateral requirements, credit enhancements, and clawback mechanisms
- Policy Development: Establishing counterparty risk policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in risk management
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring the financial health of installers and contractors on an ongoing basis and providing regular reports to senior management and stakeholders on installer risk exposure and performance
- Monitoring and Compliance: Monitoring the performance of installers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards
- Collaboration: Working closely with other departments such as Sales, Operations, Product, Legal, Finance and Consumer Credit team, to ensure alignment on risk management strategies, policies and measurements
- Mosaic Representation: Represent Mosaic well at engagements with external stakeholders including capital markets partners, credit rating agencies, regulators on effective commercial credit risk management
- Market Research: Staying informed about market and industry trends, regulatory changes, technological advancements and emerging risks that may impact the creditworthiness of counterparties and the overall risk profile of the company
- Quality Assurance: Developing and implementing standards and procedures to ensure that installers meet Mosaic’s quality and performance standards
- Continuous Process Improvements: Identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimization in the installer management process to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve outcomes
Key Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Solar and/or Home Improvement lending
- Demonstrated track record of effective commercial risk management
- Expert in credit assessment and underwriting of small businesses or commercial loans
- Familiar with risk rating methodologies, and performance monitoring/ tracking of counter parties
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Statistics or Engineering
- 10+ years of experience working in a small business and/or commercial lending department at a Bank or Fintech lender
- Strong presentation skills and ability to explain detailed topics in a succinct manner
- Strong analytical, data analysis & interpretation and risk monitoring capabilities
Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. The position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. In addition, we’re proud to offer a range of competitive benefits.
